Ciao Ragazzi! (*Hi Guys!)

My name is Luca.

Before you ask, I have never lived on the second floor. I have lived on every other floor but the second one. I have lived in Firenze (*Florence) from birth to the age of 5, Pescara (*Pescara 😊) until I was 17, attended college in Milano (*Milan) and I moved to San Diego when I was 24.

I have been working in Italian restaurants for the past 16 years and I am insanely passionate about food.

On a good day if you saw me eating you would wonder how my tiny body could store so much nourishment. A huge thank you to my parents for the awesome metabolic genes and to the restaurant industry for the daily marathon runner-like work out that tremendously helps my digestion process. 

Often my life choices are driven by instinct and gut feeling more than thoughtful and rational design, and I am a huge advocate of not taking life too seriously and of laughing as the best medicine. If I get acquainted with you, I will not be shy of pungent, provocative and inappropriate sarcasm.

My regular customers would lovingly call me a jerk during our animated exchanges of views about Italian culture, therefore “Italian Food Jerk” sounds like a natural choice for the blog’s name.
